⇨ NISAR is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) observatory and it will map the entire globe in 12 days and provide spatially and temporally consistent data for understanding changes in Earth’s ecosystems, ice mass, vegetation biomass, sea level rise, groundwater and natural hazards including earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, and landslides.

⇨ About Saral:

⇨ Saral is a joint mission with France, named SARAL (Satellite for ALTIKA and ARGOS) for studying the ocean from space using altimetry was successfully launched on February 25, 2013.

⇨ CNES (French National Space Agency) provided a radar altimeter instrument called ALTIKA and an onboard relay instrument for the international ARGOS data collection system, while, ISRO provided the satellite platform, launch, and operations for this joint mission.

⇨ The SARAL mission is complementary to the Jason-2 mission of NASA / NOAA and CNES / EUMETSAT.

⇨ About TRISHNA:

⇨ As part of the Indo-French cooperation, ISRO and CNES have completed the feasibility study on realizing an earth observation satellite mission with the thermal infrared imager, named TRISHNA.

⇨ ISRO and CNES will realize their third joint satellite mission – TRISHNA which is meant for eco-system stress and water use monitoring as also accommodation of a French instrument of India’s OCEANSAT – 3 satellite.

⇨ TRISHNA (Thermal infraRed Imaging Satellite for High-resolution Natural resource Assessment) is Planned for launch in 2025.
