⇨ Despite India being declared “Leprosy Eliminated” in 2005, the country still accounts for over half (52%) of the world’s new leprosy patients.

⇨ Leprosy is a chronic bacterial infection that affects the skin, nerves, lungs, and eyes.

⇨ Leprosy is caused by Bacteria – Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis.

⇨ Leprosy is curable with a combination of antibiotics known as Multi-Drug Therapy (MDT).
